I'm surprised. Alot of people are getting way too psychological with these theories. I'm sure that some of the things you guys bring up even Lun wouldn't have though of. (Haha)

Personally, I believe that the Phantom Slasher is none other than our very own Serena. I think that she follows the same path as Rhue does, killing anyone he may become too close to. Of course, that would work 100%, except that "Serena" has not yet killed Kloe, Traziun, Gaius, or anyone else.

If the entire theory about Midian and Gaius killing Rhue and then Rhue's aura inhabiting Midian's body is true, then perhaps she is stalking the man that killed her love, not knowing that Rhue was indeed inside Midian.

The entire process is quite strange and complicated. Lun's storytelling abilities are superior to many others that I have come across. In the end, he will leave us with a great story and a smile on our faces.

Like I've said, it is not a flawless theory. I believe that if that is the case, that perhaps she is jealous of all those who come in contact with Rhue or who may eventually hurt Rhue.

Or, perhaps she is a 'grunt', if you will, for the Purpose, who has a main goal set out for Rhue, and who has sent Serena back (if she perhaps died, the PS may be her ghost) to keep people away who may side track him from the mission.

It's really confusing. It plays out in my head better than it comes out of my fingers. Just chew on that whole "Serena=PS" theory, if you think you should. It may eventually lead you to where it is you are trying to get.

But I honestly do not think that the PS is Rhue. Rhue has his hair parted, the PS wears it all combed to one side, it seems. I doubt that Rhue is the PS as Gaius says.

Also, one more thing before I go. Who was the second shadow figure? The one who plunged with Rhue in the Lower Way? Was it Traziun, who was temporarily taken over by the power of the Shadow Sword he may have retrieved. Was it 'Midian'? Probably not; the only evidence that would lead to that would be that they both had spiked hair.

If the PS is a grunt for the purpose, why have it be serena? It would probably just be something the purpose made out of nothing rather then a dead person. If Serena is the PS, why doesn't she reveil herself to rhue? Or if Rhue is Midian, why does she just kill people around him and not Rhue himself, but instead help him on several occasions. I always imagined The Way ending without us ever knowing for sure who the PS was.

My personal opinion in this matter. I think Midian's aura is inside Rhue's sword. Midian can leave the sword as the Phantom Slasher. This explains why the PS and Rhue look so similar, why Rhue struck away the shadow sword in ep.2, the superpower attack in the pits, why the PS always follows Rhue, how the PS could save Rhue from the prison in ep.5 and then somehow dissappear, everything else I don't remember right now.

I sometimes wonder whether that was really the Phantom Slasher. We know that early in the game, Lun went to great effort to confuse the issue of who was who when they appear in the black of night. Is there any particular reason, except for the nature of the sprites, to think this was the Phantom Slasher and not somebody else?
