I thought when he (Gaius) mentioned the similar names, it meant that Rhue sounded like Jeruh (I pronounce Rhue as 'Roo' and Jeruh as 'Jeroo') which I thought meant that Gaius and Rhue (probably Midian at the time) killed Jeruh then something happened, like Jeruh's aura overpowering Midian or the sword.

It's Jer-uh. Just like it's spelt. It takes a pretty poor understanding of English pronunciation to think it's "Jer-oo".

"uh" at the end of a word is most commonly a long oo sound actually.

Except... "uh" is an... "uh" sound. Care to give some examples?

I can't think of any other words in English that end in "uh" actually. Though, I believe most people pronounce it "Jer-oo." May we hope Lun will post in here to clear this up :).

I always pronouced it Je-roo, and I have to say, my english is very good compared to many others. The fact that many people say it in different ways is because of their perception of how to pronouce. Possibly due to their accent or what words they have been exposed to, that look or sound similar to this word.

Not that I took any offence, but what you said was pretty arrogant of you.

Impossible is from Australia. He's automatically wrong. Eh, that means you're wrong too.

I confess that, lik Inderos, I can't think of any standard words that end in "-uh." There are, however, a number of proper names, most notably the surname "Unruh," which certainly has the oo pronunciation.

Uh... whoops? Way to own yourself as always, DSOK. Of course, I espect no less from you.

Proper names are not in the slightest representative of English rules, none of which state that "uh" should be pronounced any different to... "uh".

And how the hell do you fools fuck up the "hu(e)" in "Rhue" and the "uh" in "Jeruh"? They're pronounced completely differently, even if they're the same letters.

Also, everyone, we're looking for one "DSOK Unruh", first name possibly an alias. He must be killed!

Odd, I didn't say anything about standard words, did I? I could post lots more proper names though. That was all I ever had in mind. Not as compelling as standard words, but evidence nonetheless.

Seriously though, could Lun or fwacho comment on this?

I'm betting it's pronounced "Jer-oo" because "Jer-uh" sounds douchey.

But Jeruh is also correct. It's not "Jerhue" as everyone seems to be reading it.

But Jeruh sounds stupid.
