Just a theory

Postby Shade » Wed Mar 30, 2005 7:03 pm

Does anyone remember when Rhue is in some type of flashback looking for Jeruh, but instead he finds Lyrra. He talks to her as if she were his daughter. This draws me to believe that Rhue is, in fact, Midian. These are my supporting claims:
1. The headhunter in the Marna stretch calls him Midian and asks him if he had found Jeruh?
2. Rhue doesn't like mirrors. The way we see Rhue is probably the way he sees himself. When he looks into the mirror he subconciously(am i spelling that right?) knows that he sees someone else.
3.Rhue hesistates in the beginning of the game when the headhunter asks him about Jeruh.
4. I believe(only my opinion) Rhue got hit in the head and lost his memory. I know you are all probably thinking, "WTF?!!" Let me explain, I think that Lun foreshadowed this in one of the bookshelves. Rhue says something about a book about someone who got hit in the head, and then, he comments something about it being stupid. I think this was put in for ironic purposes.
Unfortunately there are many counter-claims. Such as, Strata describing Rhue to Kloe in Ep. 2. Another being Lyrra's attraction to him in Ep. 1. One way or another, though, I think Rhue will turn out to be Midian.
...You can now procede(Edit: proceed) to make fun of me.

JED is Lyrra's dad. When Rhue killed him, Rhue absorbed his aura/memories, and when he was unconscious he experienced a memory of Jed's. Don't know for sure if this is true and has concrete evidence or if it's just a theory that can be proved wrong in future episodes... been a while since I played through these episodes.

Nah... if I remember right, which I'm 99% sure I do, first Rhue encountered and killed Jed. Lyrra got stolen for mystery reasons by Cetsa. Rhue goes after Cetsa in the bandit camp with Slade. They run to the left of the camp to fight/capture Cetsa. Rhue returns after smirking about forgetting Lyrra. Rhue doesn't see Lyrra and wonders who rescued her. Rhue continues journey to Estrana, and runs into Strata who shoves him into pits, and then Strata goes upwards to Lyrra, who praises him about being her savior. *edit* And then Rhue lands underground, goes unconscious, then has the dream/memory thing where he/Jed is looking for Lyrra and Jeruh.

Haha... sorry about that :?

Edit: All this editing is confusing me. :)

1. What on earth are you talking about? Can't you read? He said it right there at the end of his post.
2. It doesn't matter if he did or not. You're wrong. Rhue killed Jed before reaching the Blue Scarve camp, and had the flashback when he was knocked into the pits.

Don't think we're all idiots who have had no theories about Midian and Jeruh before now, just because you have some brilliant (by which I mean ignorant) ideas. We're just as (by which I mean far more) capable of coming up with our own ideas, but there are always know-it-alls who come to the forum declaring their brilliant (again, ignorant) theories on their first day here. You're just another one of them, and your theories are just as bad.

I think we'd all rather ignore the fact he edited it in to support any kind of insult. Think of who's on this forum.

Uh...Impossible, I think you shouldn't be flaming me like that. After all, the subject was named "Just a theory." That's all you should've taken it for. It isn't titled "My view on life."

All I am saying is that you should take the post for what it is. It's a theory, nothing more.

Wrong. You're online. Online there are a completely different set of rules than in real life. You must never question these rules, or you will be killed by the Forum Kamikaze's, a proud, dying race.

I've read this theory many times before. Basically it's something like Midian and Gaius killing Rhue as a little boy, whose strong aura is absorbed by Midian. Midian then travels on the way, absorbing more auras until his own is so muddled that he thinks he's a different person. (I have a bad memory so I probably messed up some stuff but I think that's the basic idea)

What confuses me about this theory is its timing. The headhunter in episode two says: (copied from rm2k)

HUNTER: You must have a short
memory cause we talked just a few
weeks ago.

Well... if he had talked to Midian a few weeks ago, then Midian must still be alive then, right? (Unless he mistakens Rhue for Midian back then, but I don't think Rhue's spoken to any headhunters other than the one in the first episode) If Midian really did kill Rhue, and, assuming death is a very traumatic and painful experience, wouldn't the Midian-Rhue have some sort of memory of excruciating pain or... blackout... ?

I think someone had justified that "blank" with the Ladorin Massacre. But that was supposedly many years ago, and the headhunter had spoken to Midian just a few weeks ago.

Someone had also suggested that Rhue has been searching for Serena for far less time that he thinks. Then that time would have to be below a few weeks if the "Midian-kills-Rhue-becomes-Rhue" theory holds true. If so, then why doesn't Rhue have any recollection of himself being killed only after a few weeks?

Maybe Midian's memory overides Rhue's in that case, but I seriously doubt it. After all, Rhue's memory was stronger in all other cases... and a memory of being killed should be far more emotional/stronger than one of killing someone.

Erm... that was a lot more than I intended to write on my first post... Anyway, I'll simply shut up now and wait for someone to correct me...
