If you kill the three people during the swiftfoot race, he probably saw that, but I can't think of anything else besides that.

If Slade's sword was a shadow sword Rhue would have attacked him at the time that he met him in episode 1.

Just to state something:

You can not only kill the 3 guard-type dudes, but kill the 2 spectators behind you as well (Yes, that is what I tried, then did.) I wonder...will the (or has) Variable "Rhue # number of kills" eventually do something? This opens up new possibilities. Or maybe it just lowers the 'Rhue' variable (referring to his evil-side, like you get a -2 to 'Rhue' if you push the suicidal guy off the cliff) if it gets too low. Anyone have some ideas for this?

The only effect the Rhue variable has so far, that I've seen, is when your sneaking into Sacrifa's mansion. When you step into the middle of the pentagram the more uncomferatble Rhue feels in it the higher the Rhue value is, but if it feels comfertable to him, its really low. I think that variable will become very important later in the story.

I think killing the guards during "dippy's race" only changes what Strata says to Kloe when you're about to leave Lide.

If you kill them he says you're a murderer.
If you don't then I think he just calls you a thief.

No, if you kill a guy it adds a -1 variable for Rhue.

There's also an "Evil Kills" variable that gets increased if you kill a spectator at the rabbit race in E1, or push the guy off the cliff in E2. Beyond that it is never used, however.
If Slade's sword was a shadow sword Rhue would have attacked him at the time that he met him in episode 1.
You assume Slade already had the Shadow Sword the first time he met Rhue.

I think he was sayin that Slade DIDN'T have a shadow sword. And that IF he did, Rhue would've attacked him on sight. Cause Rhue's sword hates shadow swords, or other shadow swords depending on whether his is one or not.
Whatever Rhue uses as a sword, it doesnt seem to make him want to fight Gaius, soo... if Slade HAD any kind of special power sword, it most likely is the same type as Gaius's (Illuminati?). IF Gaius's sword is special at all...

this is an important variable... keep in mind some of my other posts. It will have a few effects in E6.

I've always thought in the end those variables would be used for something similar. My current Rhue is a goody two shoes :P

On the topic of Strata and Lyrra:
I think the reason Strata was so shocked when Rhue killed Lyrra is completely normal. After all, you have to factor in the parts we don't know. Strata and Lyrra had probably been spending a long time on the road together. Plus it's the first person in the story Strata has had any emotional attachment to, so it would just be like watching a friend who you don't get along with anymore dying right in front of you.

I never saw Strata as having any emotional attachment to Lyrra. He just liked her as a trophy and something to get it on with.
