"The Illuminati" The True mystery of "The Way

Postby Ramodeus » Mon May 23, 2005 6:49 am

I remember someone in "The Way" mentioning about a group of ancient people known as "The Illuminati". I believe they are the ones who created that evil sword called "Ghost Horror" that you see in the game where Scatha and Strata both want the sword. I don't know much about The Illuminati seeing that they were only mentioned once or twice throughout the whole series. Anybody who currently is playing the game have any scoop on this mysterious group and how they could be tied with the story?

(I completed episodes 1-5 awhile ago so my memory is'nt fresh)

The illuminati are swords. Supposedly they're the holy opposite of Shadow Swords.

The Illuminati is a sword. Actually Illuminati was created before the shadow swords.

The only ancient people in The Way are forerunners.

How do know if this "ghost horror" is a sword? it might be a bladeart since it was mentions when Kalmar and Traziun was talking about night reaper. (bladeart Traziun used to beat Kalmar)

Oh, I just need to clear that up because I beat all the episodes awhile back so my memory was'nt clear on it. I thought they were people who made powerful swords but it turns out it is a sword. I'll just have to replay all the episodes to refresh my memory.

How do you know he used a bladeart to beat kalmar?
On the other hand he did use a kickass bladeart against strata before "loosing" the tournament...

The sword Scatha was after was called Night Reaper, not Ghost Horror. And Strata was never looking for it, your probably thinking of Traziun.
And the Lord said unto John, "Come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.

Right. Kalmar's Shadow Sword is Ghost Horror, Traziun's is Night Reaper, and the Illuminati are, according to one of the books in Rhue's room in Estrana, 'The Swords of Justice' (FYI, the names it lists are Revalzo, Aldebaran, Arctura, Betelgeuse, Fomalhaut, Venturi, and Regulus). Also, about the Illuminati, there's a cloaked guy on the streets of Estrana who says a lot about them:

Cloaked Estrana Figure wrote:A long time ago the Purpose created swords of justice that were used to help maintain order and peace in the land.
They would not harm the innocent,\.\. but only those who deserved death by the judgement of the Purpose itself.
These swords were called the Illuminati.
Rumor has it that the Shadow Swords were created by the Lord Below in response to the creation of the Illuminati.
I guess it goes without saying that Shadow Swords are pretty much the opposite of the Illuminati in every way.
Both are no longer anywhere to be found,\.\. although some think the Phantom Slasher weilds a Shadow Sword.\.\.
Maybe being evil ain't so bad afterall...

Hmm... And I just found a typo that seems to have been missed in there. ^_^o But, that's beside the point. Anyway, I think that's all we know about the Illuminati so far. Or, rather, all we've been told. Any of that information could easily be wrong.

This is one of the many topics that we just don't know enough about to make anything out of it yet.
<WarV> You know what this place needs?

Hmm, if an unimportant character in the streets tells us that there are rumors the Phantom Slasher wields a shadow sword, chances are it's the exact reverse. Just a little storywriting habit.

The Phantom Slasher may actually cleanse the evil, this has been discussed before. Except for the people in the camp but they may also turn out to be criminals at a later point I guess.

Then, I have a theory... Assume for a second that Gaius speaks the truth about Rhue being the Phantom Slasher. He tells him this, because at the moment everyone thinks the Phantom Slasher is pure evil. So, if he goes on to claim that his sword is what makes him the PS, Rhue may actually be willing to give it up. Naturally, Gaius may turn out to be the exact opposite of the Phantom Slasher and work for "The Lord Below", wielding a shadow sword.

The only flaw in this little theory of mine is that Gaius can obviously sense bad deeds commited by people, making him the likely choice of working for the Purpose and wielding an Illuminati.

Just one or two more months! :)

I'd just like to make a list of mistakes in this topic, because there are so many it's driving me insane and something must be done (not to be offensive, just so you can fix them for later and such):

Ramodeus wrote:I remember someone in "The Way" mentioning about a group of ancient people known as "The Illuminati". I believe they are the ones who created that evil sword called "Ghost Horror" that you see in the game where Scatha and Strata both want the sword.

NO.

WEll most of the PS victims I can recall have been criminals in some way.
Not all though the first popele weren't criminal, but one seemed to really doubt in the purpose and the forerunners...
