And XL is the only stat that matters; how convenient. Anyway, everyone with maxed stats hardly needs the best stats on their sword.

That just isn't true. There's more that factors into the effectiveness of a Hurricane Cut than how many you get off. For one, Hurricane Cut damage is GREATLY affected by your will stat, which just so happens to be 70 points higher with Aionsluh level 6 than with Illuminati level 6.

I ran some tests (n=30) with Rhue's stats as they exist at the end of Episode 5 versus an enemy with no strengths or weaknesses:

Illuminati 6 deals an average of 84.6 damage on a Hurricane Cut, 65.933 damage on a normal hit, and 191.3 damage on a critical.
Aionsluh 6 deals an average of 115.067 on a Hurricane Cut, 78.933 on a normal attack, and 233.067 on a critical.

Factoring in 10% critical rate for Illuminati, 15% critical rate for Aionsluh, and Illuminati's 4% miss rate, the average damage on a normal attack ends up at 75.833 for Illuminati and 102.053 for Aionsluh.

So it's
I Hurricane Cut = 84.600
I Normal Attack = 75.833
A Hurricane Cut = 115.067
A Normal Attack = 102.053

As you can see, even if you pull of x Illuminati Hurricane Cuts, x Aionsluh normal attacks will deal more damage (Provided x>0, obviously).

So the deciding factor is whether or not the proning done from Illuminati's Hurricane Cuts can counterbalance the damage difference between the two auras. I don't think it can. Illuminati can prone every 2 (1.75) rounds and Aionsluh can prone every 3 (2.33) rounds, provided that there is no drawing. The enemies in Episode 5 nearly all have an 80% chance of being proned on a Hurricane Cut. Aionsluh can use Hurricane Cut often enough to keep enemies in a state of perpetual proning (prone always lasts 2 or more turns) just as well as Illuminati can. And if you need the second turn Hurricane Cut, just draw 1 extra XL on the first turn.

Aionsluh also has a significant chance of adding three other status effects to enemies on normal attacks (15% chance. If it's 15% per status effect, then it's a 38.588% chance).

And you can't neglect the fact that if you get all three non-Illuminati auras up to level 6, you can use Triultra. I don't know the stats on it, but I'm betting it's good, and Illuminati is the one aura that doesn't have it.

From what I can see, Aionsluh pretty much outclasses Illuminati.

Once you learn a move you can use it with all sword auras that are in the same catagory, which in this case is transcendent. So once you learn Triultra with one sword you can use it as long as you have one of the transcendent sword auras on you can still use it.

Yeah, you're right. For some reason I thought transcendents were different, but they aren't.

Of course, that doesn't really do much to help Illuminati's case, but it does mean that if you max out Illuminati, you can get a pretty neat Draw +3 to supplement your other auras.

Not that anyone wouldn't max them all out anyway. No one's going to be pumping AR into a sword aura that's maxed out level until all of them have been maxed. Rhue's going to have a seriously awesome skill set by the end of the series though.

Jabbo, you goddamn suck.

And the Draw +3 isn't meaningless. And the Illuminati gives you a better chance of constantly proning. And why doesn't being able to use Hurricane Cut more often balance out the lower damage?

Thanks.

Draw +3 isn't meaningless, but if you use it, you end up dealing even less damage. Not to mention, as Sage pointed out, you can use it with the other auras once you get Illuminati to level 6. Using Hurricane Cut more often doesn't counterbalance the lower damage because an Illuminati Hurricane Cut deals less damage than an Aionsluh sword attack, so no matter how you slice it, Illuminati is dealing less damage.

Technically, the auras have a pretty much equal chance of constantly proning because prone has a 45% chance of healing every turn after 2 turns. You can't extend the proning period on an enemy that's already proned, so if you use Hurricane Cut whenever possible, Aionsluh will have the first shot at reproning (45%), followed by illuminati (another 45%, for 24.75% raw), followed by aionsluh (13.61% raw), then illuminati again (7.49%), and on and on into infinitessimalness, roughly equaling out the odds. Aionsluh actually has a slight edge, but that shouldn't make a difference. 'Course, you could be smart and wait until the prone wears off to use Hurricane Cut, but then you're just hoarding XL.

Also, I didn't mention it, but Illuminati doesn't get that last XL until it hits level 6, so if you're on level 5, even Pandamaare outclasses or ties Illuminati in every stat, XL included.

Yeah, if by Episode 8, Rhue isn't dealing 200 damage with a regular noncritical attack, something happened. Like all the focite in the world just randomly disappeared or something. He's going to be a fortress.

And in order to get Rhue that Draw +3 you have to use the Illuminati a lot! -_-

And you're doing less damage per Hurricane Cut but more Hurrican Cuts. And since Hurrican Cut does a fair bit of damage whichever sword aura your using, the higher frequency should more than make up for the difference.
