Wasn't the answer for the meaning of life (42) from one of Terry Pratchet's "Discworld" books.

Supposedly they have a computer called a "HEX".
And it is just a big ant hill with heaps of ants carrying data around called "BYTES".

It was supposed to be able to answer any question, so they asked it the meaning of life.

It took the "HEX" a thousand years to figure out the answer and it came back as 42. :lol:

Don't blame me if it is wrong, this is just what i heard.

That sounds like a strange mix of Hichhiker's guide and an anthill. If it is in Discworld its a pretty big ripoff.

Discworld? Is that like Ringworld? Good book there. Except I had no idea what the hell was going on h-... all the time.

The register doesn't say what that special episode said it did, which is probably what you're thinking of.

The chapter in which we're told that the population of the universe is zero (there are an infinite number of universes, but not all universes are populated, therefore only a finite number of populated universe, and a finite number divided by an infinite number is pretty much zero) is one of my favourite ones in the Restaurant at the End of the Universe...

Yeah, your thinking of "NRA4EVER". What it really says is some price in the 800's i think.
