Indeed.
I'll say I found her floating face down and I won't let them hurt you, I swear, from the crystal to the crucifix, I will always be with you. So if I go to hell for this I guess I'll meet you there.

First of all, there is no doubt he will come back. Rhue even says "I won't kill you..blah blah blah" which means he must be sure that Strata will live on. My opinion:

Pre-RhuekilledLyrra Strata: He is essentially... a fuckwit. He is a bully, a showoff, and an arse. He was the kind of guy who doesnt give a shit about anybody else and doesnt really care about the nobodys he hurts in order to get the one thing he wanted: i.e. fame. although that didn't stop him being a kick-ass fighter and a cool character, but THAT didn't stop me hating him which is what I'm sure Lun intended. I don't think he hated Rhue... Rhue was just an annoying guy who he kept running into and picked on for the hell of it and during the end he... not liked but disliked Rhue a little less and I wouldnt be surprised if Lyrra didn't actually ask Strata to check on Rhue after the plunge like he said. I think he had a small soft side which only extended to Lyrra and starting to extend to Rhue and he just manipulated everybody else.

Post-RhuekilledLyrra Strata: He has just realised he has witnessed the death of the girl/woman he loved. Combine this with the fact that Rhue killed Lyrra, Rhue shamed him in the plunge and Rhue has been an annoying Spesta biting his heel the whole way through the storyline... and he has the will, the power and the reason to go after Rhue. Trying to get into the mind of Strata I would say he has gone from disliking Rhue to hating him and being in a mindless buring rage bent on Rhue's utter destruction. But he isn't evil. He will do absolutely anything to achieve his goals, good or evil, but he himself is not evil. Like Sacraficia or whoever that old guy in Estrana was.
I also agree with whoever said it was a bit like the pokemon scenario. Strata beat Rhue, Rhue beat Strata. I think Strata will disappear for a while and be back to beat Rhue and he'll win but Rhue will survive. Then Rhue will win the next time and so it goes on.....

One wonders then what you would consider evil....

i'm not sure if i would consider having no concience being evil. It would tend to lead to evil acts sure but he isn't inherrently evil.
I'd call someone who would take pleasure in commiting evil acts evil or someone who would make an effort to commit evil crimes, not just doing them because it is benificial to them.

Thats a good question... but if we think that acting like that will make Strata evil, then we have to jump back and say... "Whoa that means Rhue is evil too".... hey thats kind of ironic in a way isn't it? We assume Strata will come back superior to Rhue... after he abandones his way of life and turns into Rhue, I mean thats what he will be isnt it? Completely single minded and not careing about who he hurts...
i.e.
Strata => hunting down Rhue
is the only thing he cares about, just like it is with:
Rhue => trying to find Serena

it's all one fucked up circle..... oh and did I and that the same may happen with Traziun?

The answer is Strata = Horny
Lyrra = Easy "Fun"
The End

Yeah, I thought so too.
But of course Strata had to go and think he loved her...which led to getting axed by Rhue...which leaves him utterly broken...if Strata doesnt go after Rhue then what other options does he have? He cant go back to trying to be the best plunger in the world because he knows Rhue beat him... and without that he's not famous...and without that his reason for existance is gone :shock: .
So yeah he has no choice but to go after Rhue.
Although it would be interesting if Lun found some way for Strata to go back to his old self... maybe he will realise that he didnt love Lyrra, and only felt loyalty to her because she was so 'easy' :wink: .... oh the possibilities.....

Or maybe Strata will realise that even though he was good at the Plunge, Rhue was getting better because he had to have hard plunges, and lyn rocks, but for Strata every plunge was easy and he cound never really get better

hmmm... or maybe he'll forsake the path of the lyn completely and dedicate his heart and soul to being a paradin, or a forerunner, or a table-dancer in a small, dirty inn.....

What do you think evil is, aside from acting without regard for others? Acts are not inherently good or evil; it is the motivation behind them that imbues them with a moral character.

No, that's not circular or anything.... :roll:

Strata doesn't murder just for the hell of it like the PS does, and he's not bent on world domination or anything. But he has some weird motives, since he left Lyrra in E5 and went after Cetsa, then realised what he'd given up.

Strata's changed a bit since we met him in E1, but some of his earlier actions make me think he is (or at least, was) a little bit evil...

E1 - Strata steals Dippy from Rhue, then stabs him and leaves him for dead.
E3 - Strata pushes Rhue (and Dippy) into the Pits for no real reason.

He certainly seems to delight in Rhue's suffering, anyway.
Violence is the last resort of the incompetent.

Flaming newbs online is their first choice.

i was saying that strata although not against commiting evil acts, would probably not just commit an act for no reason or commit one out of pure pleasure. When he slices you up in episode one he didn't do it because he gets a giddy thrill out of harming random bunny hunters, he wanted the rabbit. He was benifited by commiting a wrongdoing. When he lied to Lyrra he got a partner who would worship him and stroke his already gigantic ego (or some easy "fun" as burning flame said).
I was saying that i would consider someone who commits evil acts just out of pure pleasure or commiting evil acts even when they can't benifit him in any way. Thats not circular, thats an entirly different point. Besides, you act as though just because its your veiw of evil, its correct. How someone judges what is evil or not is relative to that person.

Yes, so before Lyrra's death, Strata was not evil inparticular, and people didn't see him as evil because he was such a playboy... only Rhue saw him as evil, or did Rhue really think he was evil? he hated him sure but that doesnt mean he thought he was evil...
...and assuming things go in the general way we think they will go (i.e. Strata lives, becomes stronger and hellbent on destorying Rhue and doing whatever it takes to kill Rhue) then people will think Strata is evil, Strata will turn into Rhue, and Rhue may or may not hate him anymore possibly Rhue will try to treat Strata the way Strata first treated Rhue....
