Eh, I was half wrong. I realize you have to have gmail to use google talk, but I was saying that even if you already add someone who has gmail and google talk, they'll receive an email of "omg get google talk!" But, they only get that email if they've never logged into google talk before. So:
No gmail: "omg get gmail!"
Gmail, but no google talk: "omg get google talk!"
Gmail, and has logged into google talk at least once: No invite email
It's still kind of annoying though, because you can't tell by a person's gmail address whether or not they have google talk. So if you accidentally try and add someone who hasn't gotten google talk yet, too bad, you send an email to them.
It needs a built-in message saying "this person already has google talk" or "this person does not have google talk yet" when you add a gmail account to your list.
