Rhue is Midian. Accept the truth. It explains everything

If it explained everything thenwe wouldn't be arguing over it. I still think its a possibility, but not the only possibility.

Rhue = Midian?

Postby Valhariel » Sat Oct 08, 2005 10:07 pm

Well, the idea that Rhue is Midian is certainly possible, but it just doesn't add up to me...it certainly explains the headhunter in Episode 2 referring to Rhue as Midian, but there's still the issue of Midian having purple hair, both in Dream Estrana, and in the flash backs....I just don't see him changing his hair color, for whatever reason...I like the idea, though, that Rhue is actually Tetzel's "perfect blade" and he and Gaius were simply working together when they hunted down Jeruh in the pre-Episode 1 timeframe.

I also have a theory I'd like to run by you all on what Gaius means at the end of the game when he says that Rhue has been around for a long time...I mean, Rhue is able to become the Pharaphalyn when he is inside the sword and is able to gain the title, but how did Kavax get there in the first place? I think the story of Kava and Kura applies to Rhue and Kava and that Rhue, as Kura, killed Kava a long time ago and became the Pharaphalyn, but when his auras got muddled, he forgot it. So, he had to reawaken that part of himself by defeating Kavax in the sword again...otherwise, it would seem too out of place for Rhue to become Pharaphalyn just because he experiences it out in some etherial dream world. Now, as for the special quality that is supposed to define the Pharaphalyn....I, for one, think it means that Rhue doesn't age, which is why he's been around for so long. He is, in fact, the Pharaphalyn but after getting involved with the Shadow Swords, it just basically screwed him up.

I don't know really how to resolve the Rhue = Midian argument, in terms of the headhunter in Episode 2, except to say that it may be possible that Rhue thought he was Midian for a time after killing Jeruh, but shortly afterwards, his auras broke down, to an extent, and he became the Rhue we all know. Perhaps Rhue already had a Phantom Sword at the time he killed Jeruh, though this seems very unlikely...Midian never really says how he died, so there's nothing that can be obtained from speculation. Well, I guess I'm at a loss.

That would explain how median got into dream estrana (i.e. getting killed in proximity of the sword). It might also explain why in earlier version he was looking for Median (i think). Lun might have made a mistake or changed the names of Jeruh and Median.

i like the way you think.

It could be a head hunter that Midian hired to capture Jeruh...

The only reason to think that Midian might have been the headhunter was that apparently that other headhunter thinks Midian was looking for Jeruh (of course, he's absolutely right about this) and that the first headhunter was looking for Jeruh. That's pretty weak. In order for this to make sense, the headhunter would have to be able to sense Midian's aura about Rhue. However, we know from Gaius encounter with Kloe how such aura sensing works--and it's very different. That Midian and Rhue just looked similar (read "exactly the same") makes far, far more sense.

That and aura sensing are different. Aura sensing was in ep2 when Gaius could tell Rhue's Aura was muddled. I'm pretty sure Rhue didn't hug Gaius right before that. I'm not sure what the Kloe thing was, my best guess would be some extreme form of aura sensing caused by somthing, maby the close contact.

What I believe is the Midian was killed by Jeruh a bit before Rhue killed Jeruh, which would explain why he is in the shadow sword. I think that Rhue begin Kura makes a bit more senses. Kava when talking to Rhue keeps on referring to him as bring Kura, but it can't just be an aura mix up as all the auras in the shadow sword seem to take on there first forum. So why would he think Rhue would be Kura unless Rhue is Kura. Also it tells how Rhue was on a mission to take out Jeruh since Kava and Kura were paid to go on missions so it seems Kura just keep going on them even after killing Kava.

Jeruh had Phantom Slasher, so how could nameless wanderer/Rhue have gotten Midian's aura first? That's why this doesn't fit at all.

The problem is that E6 felt like a normal episode of The Way, with all the usual excessive foreshadowing and slowly revealing and introducing of things that should become important later on - and then it's the end, so massive things are left unexplained and illogical!

You didn't really expect complete closure, did you?

Rhue couldn't have gotten the sword (Phantom Slasher) until he killed Jeruh. But that doesn't explain WHY he killed Jeruh.

I didn't expect everything to come together perfectly and be explained in depth, but I expected more than we got. A lot of characters who seemed deep and mysterious and interesting were just plot devices. That, or Lun had an explanation for them which he never revealed, which I think is stupid for a final episode. Dirk, Gaius, guy who explains Illuminati, woman who explains Shadow Swords, Scarifa... And some of these told us about things that weren't in themselves explained.

The episode still had heaps Way-style foreshadowing. Which was GOOD, until it turned out to be the final episode. Kavax calls Rhue "Kura", but there was really no closure on that. Absolutely none on Gaius, either, we don't know why he did anything. A lot of other stuff makes no sense and can't be explained, maybe I'll make a proper list later.

(And did you notice your name misspelled a few times? Incidentally, YOU MUST BE DEAD TO BE THERE!)

Yeah, it's a long story that involves a hooker, a bridge, and several untamed swiftfoots.

And hey, there was a save prompt at the end, so who knows what may-or-may-not happen next...

Maby its just the end of Rhue's involvment in the story.

Rhue couldn't have gotten the sword (Phantom Slasher) until he killed Jeruh.

Maby Rhue had his own shadow sword before then too. That would explain how he was able to kill Jeruh in the first place, but probably leaves more stuff unanswerd overall though.

Yeah, that only raises more questions. It doesn't seem like that's the case.

There was just FAR too much not explained... At the very least, a story at its ending should make sense, and The Way doesn't. There are heaps and heaps of things we've been theorizing and asking questions about for months or years, that we still don't really know even after E6.

One possibility I've come across is that E6 might actually be leading to a prequel. As it was mentioned earlier, I think the guided and the lyn have their own "perfect blades". For whatever reason, I think that the holder of Rhue's sword might have been Eyashu. Perhaps Eyashu and Dirk played some sort of roll in a previous journey, making Eyashu the "former" Rhue of sorts. If you subtract the age between now and when Rhue originally "obtained" the shadow sword, it's not illogical to assume that the closing of the Eyashu's life led to the beginning of Rhue's. Anyhow, just a theory input that's all.
