Shindy's Paper

Postby AznChipmunk » Tue Oct 18, 2005 4:59 pm

OK...
As I'm pretty good with English, I have a few corrections:

Traveling to a place like Germany

If I went to a very culturally different place, such as Germany, I would change dramatically. If I picked Germany as my next place to move to, adapting to Germany’s environment would be extremely hard and would take a long time.

The German language would be one major problem. Without proper communication, there would be infinite scenarios of trouble and conflict. I would first seek a personal translator (e.g. labor, books, electric dictionary, etc). With a personal translator, you can get help easily by using it to translate phrases or words.

For relationships, I would have friends that are kind and resourceful. I would try to be nice to my neighbors. I would also make friends that can speak my language. I would look for friends that are cops, so if I get in trouble, I would receive support.

I would also go to a town with many Koreans. There life would become easier. For example, getting jobs would be easier because the Koreans there can help me get jobs that they offer. Also going to School with as many Koreans as possible would be good idea. Korean friends can help me understand German by translating it to me.

I would have to give up or keep certain traditions and habits. I would have to give up Korean traditions because they are useless in Germany. I would be hard for me to find people carrying out Korean traditions in Germany. However, I would keep my animals, televisions, computers, school, music, and many other possessions, because many Germans use them.

Language, relations, where you live, and different traditions would make me very different inside and out. This is why moving to a culturally different place would be hard to adapt to.

I'm pretty sure most of the corrections are right...
I'm not too sure about TVs or TV's, so I changed it to televisions

Tell me anything you think is wrong.

Well, if there's no apostrophe in 'televisions', and TV is an acronym for television, why would there be an apostrophe in 'TVs'?

A lot of people have trouble with apostropes, so I tell them just to work the word out like I did above. Remember, apostrophes represent a letter that's missing. Since the 's' on 'televisions' denotes pluralization, not possession, there's no reason to use it.

Don't sweat it though, I know people twice my age who still don't understand it, so it's nothing to worry TOO much about, except when you're being graded on it :P

it's cool that you talk that much about my homeland :D but this schützengrabenvernichtungs... thing is a malicious word :| I prefer this "ich bin ein schaumgummiring" thing of HolsteinCow. Although we call it "donut", just as you Americans.

There are so many fuckwits in the world who don't understand what a "race" actually is. I seem to be the only person capable of correcting anyone else, and it's as simple as looking at a dictionary(.com).

A race can be a religion, nationality, skin colour, and plenty of other things as well. That's why, for example, when Teen makes an ass of himself insulting Australians and Jews, he is racist on two counts. (And anti-semitic on one, as he has gladly admitted... I think.)
