well... i am very pissed off, cause my Adobe Premiere made a 12 Mbyte file into a VERY laggy file and is more than 1 Gbyte. I deleted some parts i dont need, and i exported the movie into mov, and it completely ruined it!!! If i select avi, the file becomes 30 Gbytes. HOLY SHIT!
So my questions are...
do u know why this happens?
is it because Adobe Premiere 6 sucks?
how can i delete parts of the movie without having to wreck it?
what is the best movie editor?
what is the best free movie editor?

try going with "Camtasia studio"
there are plenty of free ones on the net.
i think the file size has something to do with the image quality, i made a 30 or 40 second clip that was 114Mb,

I've made a movie in Adobe Premiere before... it sucks. Everyone should use iMovie. >_>

The video you started working on was probably compressed and after you were done editing you saved it in an uncompressed format, hence the large jump in filesize.

If you can't select an external codec in it, then yes. I don't remember if it did or not, I only used it a couple of times before I removed it.

If it is compressed, you can't. Well, you could cut between keyframes, but any real editing like Premiere allows would require you to recompress the data.

I use VirtualDub, though that's not an NLE. It does everything I want to do, though.

Erm, I use Adobe premiere for my video editing needs and it supplies pretty much everything you could imagine...
Your file being so huge is normal, you're saving it as an uncompressed video file (most likely avi). This is what you do to get it to a smaller size:
File -> Export ->Adobe Media Encoder
At the top of the window you can choose the format (such as Windows Media). After choosing the desired format, click on the video option on the left side. You can further specify which exact encoder you wish to use and how many passes the encoder should do (I use two passes, else I get stuttering in the output file).
Virtualdub is good too, but it isn't user friendly at all.

hey, can any one help me with something? I made a small 39 second movie with Camtasia studio and FRAPS, but the file is 114 meg, how can I compress it? Camtasia studio is the only video editing software I own, apart from Windows movie maker, but that sucks.

Windows Movie Maker doesn't really suck that much. Besides, why not just put your Camtasia created file as a one frame video in WMM and export it as WMV or any other supported format?
You can always look for an encoder on the net, there are plenty around I would say.
