I don't really believe Rhue is the Phantom Slasher. There have been at least two scenes where both of them where seen (End of Episode 1 at the camp and the scene in Episode 5, when the Phantom Slasher brought Rhue his sword back).
On the other hand, Rhue looks exactly like the Phantom Slasher. If you have the RPGmaker2000, try opening the Database and comparing their walk graphics. Surprisingly similiar ... And, of course, the Slasher has often killed people who posed a threat to Rhue.

My theory at the moment is, that the Phantom Slasher is something likes Rhue's shadow or a Rhue phantom. Gaius mentioned that Rhue is the Slasher because of his shadow sword, so it makes some sort of sense ... I suppose.

Here's a thought.

Rhue has a purpose: to find Serena. He has his own purpose, but it seems he may not believe in The Purpose.

Do wanderers have a purpose? They just wander across the way because they believe The Purpose wants them to. They don't have a purpose of their own, but they do believe in The Purpose.

So, does the Phantom Slasher kill those who don't believe in The Purpose, or those who have no purpose?

In a sense, whether the Phantom Slasher has a purpose or not depends on whether he kills with a reason or simply kills randomly. Killing without purpose...wandering without purpose. The Phantom Slasher has killed wanderers and helped Rhue.

Gaius likely has a purpose. I'd dare to say one doesn't plot something without a purpose in mind, like Gaius has been doing with the Guided.

AznChipmunk thinks Gaius believes in The Purpose. Maybe he does. Maybe he's trying to unite both The Purpose and individual purposes? or something like that...

The PS also looks alot like Gaius, Graphics aren't really a good thing to base that theory on.

It's hardly possible that rhue is the PS there, because he walked all night, instead of sleeping(OK, it is possible that he slept...but why would he have turned down to sleep in the tent?)

That is a no-no. He wouldn't be able to sleep like that. He walks away and the Phantom Slasher almost instantly appears.

Rhue leaves the screen, the three people go to bed, then it skips to sometime at night. It could be minutes later, or hours later, but there is plently of time for Rhue to come back around and kill them as the PS.

I have come to the conclusin that the Phantom Slaher is one of the following : -

1. A 6-year old girl with a shadow sword.
2. Serena
3. Darth Vader
4. A 40-year old spanish porn star who has a thing for Rhue
5. Dippy
6. Some completely random person.
