I think Midian was/is a Forerunner, maybe Gaius is one too or Midian just used him for some unknown reason to help him kill Jeruh. Now Jeruh's Aura/Soul may have somehow as has been stated many times before either displaced or merged with Midian's aura/soul to create a new personality, namely Rhue.

Now the memories of these two people mixed together to create a lot of false memories. Perhaps Serena was the name of someone that died who was important to Midian but Jeruh may have experienced a loss of some kind where someone he cared about went missing. So these two memories combined together to create an extremely powerfull and emotional memory that has fueld Rhue's purpose to exist.
Jeruh is the name of one of the children from the Landorin Stretch incident right? I can't remember correctly, but maybe the name of the person who fell into the river is just mixed up with the memories of Midian.

The people who gave Rhue the sword may have been from Midians past, perhaps Forerunners pass on swords from one generation to the next. Rhue who now occupies Midian's body wakes up, takes the sword and thinks it's been his since that day in Landorin.

Now the Phantom Slasher could simply be remnants of Midian and Jeruh's personality, the darkside of both personalities coming together to create a homocidal madman who kills anyone who poses a threat to the memory of Serena(or whoever) or to Rhue himself.

The girl in Estrana for instance, I think she tried flirting with Rhue, that would be a threat to the memory of Serena so she's marked for death.
Of course how Rhue could know about those men in Estrana who were sent to kill him is unknown, maybe the above theory I've stated is a load of crapola which is probably the case...

Maybe the Phantom Slasher is someone else like Serena herself looking out for Rhue, or it's Gaius who's trying to lay the blame on Rhue. Whoever it is I'm sure we'll find out in either Episode 6 .... or 7 .... or 8.

Personaly I think Lun's just too clever for it to be anyone too obvious, .... for all we know the Phantom Slasher could be The PURPOSE himself or a member of the guided, we all know that those guys are completely insane.

But what confuses is me is that one dream of Rhue asking Lyrra (shes young in the dream) where Jeruh is...Anyone care to speculate on it?

That was recently after Rhue ended Jed, so Rhue's aura probably did something, like it did to Slade.

It might still be possible for Dream Estrana Midian to be Jeruh, since he was looking for Jed, Jeruh's father.

Midian is looking for Jeruh. He goes to Jed for help in finding him.

What you have to consider is that while Rhue gains the auras of lots of people, they don't all radically change his motives or memories - Rhue had that dream from Jed's memory, but that's all the influence he had. So shouldn't there be one prominent aura? How do we determine that?

Has anyone actually noticed that it is 100% impossible for Rhue to be the Phantom Slasher? At the end of The Way 1. Rhue is asleep in the camp.
The one at the start of Way 2. As he is sleeping the Phantom Slasher appears. Also, in parts where Rhue walks off screen, the PS walks in from off screen in the direction that Rhue just came from.[/img]

Rhue's conscious physical body isn't the PS, but he only ever sees the PS while waking up, which could be when it disappears. Of course, Gaius seems to think that he can solve the whole problem by taking Rhue's Shadow Sword. Why would that be?

The rules state to read every single thing that was posted or use the damn search function. People don't need "Use The Damn Search." everytime something they said was already covered. You make a good point, in EP5, when PS breaks into his cell in the Blana Sera Temple, nobody sees it. I think Scatha would have seen it at least.
Maybe taking the Shadow Sword would attract the PS, so Gaius can kill it, or die.

I was just pointing out that Rhue seeing the PS is not legitimate evidence that Rhue isn't the PS himself. Something which was pretty evident when E5 came out.

hm if the phantom slasher only appears when Rhue is asleep would that suggest that Rhue's conscious goes to the dream Estrana or somewhere else temporarily to let a second conscious in him take over? like Midian? And Midian is now the phantom slasher looking for revenge on someone? like Jeruh for instance?

I dont think anyones ever mentioned Midian wanting revenge on Jeruh before. Or if they have, I've just never noticed.
