I started working on an Alan faceset, but it doesn't look very good right now. I need to find a way to make his expression look arrogant and aloof.

make him look slightly upwards so that you actually see his nostrils.. also make his eyes closed.. As if he was shunning you.

I got a reply from Lun on Sunday.

I downloaded the dirk image off your message board account. The jpg image is very "noisy" if you know what I mean. If you have a cleaner image in png form, please send me that version. Thanks!

I am having a lot of difficulty cleaning the image up. I would really appreciate it if anyone thinks they could help or has any advice on how I should do this.

In espisodes 1-3 Lun was doing a lot of expereimenting with what he could make the game engine do. The face sets were one thing of which he needed halp to do and only Maya had the right skills and time to help Lun out. Maya made teh main face then Lun worked teh expressions in which took him A LOT of time (which is why some of the main chacters never got facesets.)
in episode one I believe some of the facesets were stock ones that he used. Strata's face set is actually done by Lun. Actaully, he mutated one of the stock pics that came with the game (note resemblance to Rhan who I believe is a pre-made face set)
Usually he did what ever was easiest to accomplish his objective. The menu system took Lun 3-4 months of making the various back grounds and pics. He was thrilled when he finished that. Actually, Lun considers that one of his greatest achievements in teh making of the way just becasue of the all foot-slogging it took to complete in an attractive and easy to use way.

Yay, I'm not the only one who thinks the moustache and beard should be un-pointied. I still don't like the eyes, though.

I can't figure out how to fix those things. Do you think that you could copy my avatar and try to fix it?

Non sequitr.... Lun is trying to keep the same look to all his chacters in the game. your avatar is actually pretty good except that the style is not eh same as the other cahracters. to work for teh game you'ld need to over-hual it in the same anime style that other chaacters are in using the color pallate used in the game and proabably using less lines ... sort of copy a close face set alreay in use then convert it little by little to look like your current avatar (which is good just wrong style) Your current avatar is actually very clos to how I picture Dirk in my mind.

The way I made my avatar is actually very close to what you suggested that I do. I guess it just didn't turn out right. I recently sent Lun a cleaner version of my avatar and he has been working with that. He said that he wanted to change a few things like the eyebrows.

Whoops! I just looked at the character set of Alan. It's meant to be light blue isn't it?
