Outside of North America, the concept of Thanksgiving is not really important enough to be spent much time on in history class, so don't berate him for not knowing exactly what its background is.

Actually, it DID start during Thanksgiving night. SBF and I stopped posting at 2 AM. Everyone else noticed the posts sometime during the morning, thus it was labeled the "Post-Thanksgiving Spam Fest". Although since it technically started during Thanksgiving night, the validity of the name is debatable.
