Ok i was wrong. Poenaesis does not possess any common sense or intellect :P You are just twisting some known laws of Physics and interpreting them in your own way. Some of the things you said contradict one another. And also your views contain a lot of IFs and also some of your uses of the laws seem not to be how we were taught. hehe no time to eloborate g2g play on the way 2! the marna stretch will not explore itself!

I personally agree with Tele, to an extent. Since there's no real way to find out for sure, what's the point of thinking so hard on it? I'm leaning towards Christianity, because it has much more proof and coherancy than most beliefs, but I'm only about 80% sure that Christianity is true, and I don't even think that the Bible is innerant (meaning it can't have errors). I believe that there's some truth in it, but it's been fucked up so badly over the ages that (most particularly the Old Testament) there's falsity in there with the truth. However, as I said, I'm not completely sure what is really true, but I'm ok with that. Here's the way things are IMHO:

EITHER:
1. Christianity is real and I go to Heaven, (very good)
2. Atheism is the truth and I simply stop existing (bad, but I wouldn't notice it),
3. Hinduism or Buddism is true and I get reincarnated (not that bad),
4. Mohamedism is true and I burn in hell for eternity (bad, but unlikely due to no proof at all and contradiction)
5. Judeism is true and... Well, I haven't studied it enough to know, but I'm guessing since I worshiped the same god and was not evil, I go to heaven. (very good)
or 6. Something else at least moderately likely to be true (Either not that bad or good).

Looking for proof in religion is hard, seeing as there can be no proof of something like God, unless he reveals himself to us. Otherwise it's just millions of people's words against millions of others.

I definatly agree about the Bible though, I do believe there was somebody named Moses, probably didn't live that long, probably Moses jr. jr. was who lead the jews from the desert after "40 years". But that's my opinion.

I also think there was somebody called Jesus, though wasn't the son of God, could've been a nutter, could've been somebody smart enough to pull of a giant scam, could've been part of a giant organised crime ring spreading the word of miracles to uprise against the romans? Whatever... it could of happened...

4. Mohamedism is true

Commonly know as Islam.

Can I just say, I don't believe that saying
only about 80% sure that Christianity is true

qualifies as the absolute faith which Martin Luther had in mind when he was excommunicated for meddling. Just believing in Christianity, "In Case" doesn't quite qualify for a "get to heaven free" card. Not that I'm doubting you're belief in God, in which case you get in anyway.

You're reading my post and attributing my beliefs to something which I was clearly not talking about. This is the same sort of thing people do when they classify a person into either Democrat or Republican. In no way, at any time in my post, did I indicate that I was a christian "just in case". I said I think Christianity is the truth, but I'm not absolutely sure; NOT because I'm being careful, but because I haven't seen perfect, case-closing evidence that Christianity is the truth. Lets say you have three cups turned upside down, and there's a rock under one. You can think that the rock is probably under the middle cup, but you aren't entirely sure. This is a very different thing from attempting to pick up all three cups at once. Do you understand what I'm saying?

Somebody's clearly not smart enough to hold the cups in between his arm and chest to lift all three simultaneously. :)

There's no proof that Jesus came back from the dead, though. It's just a baseless belief. But then, isn't most religion?

Eh, I'm going to hell anyway.

Jesus's friends made up the story that he had come back to life in order to get more followers.

Bhuddism isn't just about being reborn. Its usually portrayed as a wheel or a river. Eventually you reach Nirvana because your Karma is positive enough.

I'm Catholic, but like everyone else, I don't just keep a close mind to other ideas. I actually went through a time where I started seriously exploring Daoism and Zen Buddhism, just because their focii on life were a bit different from the Western religious traditions.

From my brief but thorough run through, I enjoyed concentrating on calming my mind and working on inner peace. Of course, eventually the idea of life after death came up, and what role my faith would ultimately play in it.

What I come to understand is regardless of what I believe, I'm going to die. My Christian upbringing makes me value morality and all that because I definitely don't want barbed-tongued daemons prodding my ass with a flaming pitchfork while brimstone rains down from above. My experiences with Eastern beliefs gave me an appreciation of the simple things in life, so that helps me stay pretty positive too. However, I recognize that nobody will ever really be able to answer the question of what's beyond this existence.

So, Catholicsm = Heaven Vs. Hell with a hopeful placement in Heaven
Buddhism = Karma = Nirvana = Nothingness, release from bonds of existence and achievement of oneness with the universe
Daoism = Just live a meaningful life

Sorry for all this rambling! Just one last thing, I promise.

Well, that's why religions and belief systems can also be called faiths- there's no proof most of the time, but proof would make discussions like these so much less interesting!

...Who are you?

("Who are you?" is starting to become my most-used phrase... >_> It's like Rhue's "Where are you?" only less memorable.)

He's new and he makes sense.

Personally, I used to believe in Christianity, but after I went to school and learned science and all that, I just believe that we're born, we live however we choose or however life forces us to choose, and then we get old and die, and our mind or 'soul' ceases to exist while our bodies decompose and become loose atoms again. You know, the whole 'Circle of Life' thing.

Daoism = Just live a meaningful life
I think that that is the only kind of religion that makes sense, but you don't have to be religious to do that.

He's the T man.
I was raised an atheist, bvut I like the idea of living a meaningful life, buddism is the only religion that makes sense. I want to belive in an afterife, I dont like the idea of ceaseing to exist, but I've accepted it,
Before I die I'm going to leave my mark on the world to show my life wasnt pointless.
Not like a pyramid or anything, something small.
