Dragonslayer
Resistance to fire, has skills capable of peircing through thick defenses (as would be necessary to penetrate a dragon's hide), and maybe other skills concerning enchanted items.

Current classes:

Fencer - A more speed and skill reliant warrior. The Fencer is the staple of the party and is a well rounded fighter. He mixes strength, speed and skills together to form a fierce fighter. His weaknesses tend to be the lack of heavy hitting weapons and heavy defensive armors.

Seid - The spell wielder of the party, the Seid is potentially the highest damaging character in the game. With huge magic ratings, a wide assortment of spells and decent speed the Seid can slaughter their enemies with ease. The weaknesses of the Seid are the weaknesses of every spell-caster. Low defense, low attack and poor equipment leave you vulnerable to up close combat.

Pirate - The Pirate is a bloodthirsty murdering maniac. He is a powerful warrior with one eye. He is a heavy damager and has decent speed and defense. He is a more capable close combat fighter than the Fencer but does not have as wide a variety of skills or as high speed. His weakness is his lack of diversity in attacks and his reliance on close combat. He also lacks powerful armors.

Theurge - The Theurges are the world's healers. Slightly more physically powerful than the Seid they are able to last longer in combat and even produce physically. They are also excellent healers and can keep themselves and their allies alive with their healing abilities. The weakness of the Theurge is its ability to deal large amounts of damage either magically or physically.

Dragoon - The Dragoon is the ultimate defensive warrior. What he lacks in speed he makes up in strength and defense. The hardest of all the characters to kill, the Dragoon is a defensive warrior. He is able to slam into large groups of enemies and come out alive due to his naturally high defense and strength coupled with his powerful armors and weapons. His weaknesses are in his lack of speed and skills.

Cage Fighter - The Cage Fighter is the most physically capable of all the warriors. He is powerful, fast, highly defensive and has a wide variety of skills. He is able to be an all in one powerhouse as far as natural combat building goes. He also fights with his fists only so you don't have to worry about spending as much money or going on equipment quests. Also, repairing equipment is almost a non-factor for him. But this is also his weakness as he relies almost entirely on his body. His wide variety of skills include both damaging and healing skills but none of them are very powerful leaving him as a very acquired taste.

Hope you enjoy em.

(I can't resist.)

This all sounds pretty freakin sweet right now. I hope it turns out to be as awesome as it already seems to be.
If you're gonna do any comical class, instead of Bard, do Breakdancer, a.k.a Breaker. Job advancements if available-

Breaker
\
B-Boy/B-Girl (depending on gender)
/
DJ

A fun move list could be-

Class change- Toprock
6-Step (These two gotta be first, cuz they're the basis of breaking)
Pop-and-Lock
Sweep Drop
Windmill
Flare (or Air Flare)

I have more, but those are just some ideas. Also, they could equip those foot-weapons, like Regal on ToS. Light armor so as to not restrict movement, but fastest class possibly?
And I'll beta test if you let me. Looks like a nice way to pass the time.

Hehe. What about a nerd/hacker class as just a joke in the game.
Like a nerdy lookin kid weilding a computer and wearing glasses?

Newb
\
Nerd
/
Hacker (Maybe incorperate 1337 speak into the name, I couldn't think how.)

Have attacks/abilities like:
- hack, which does damage to enemies no matter the distance or location.
- cheat, which temporarily boosts stats.
- Walkthrough, shows all enemies and items on the map for a while.

Why would a Nerd become a newb? It's more likely to be the other way around.

Someone's a tough guy.

I talked with Porter and he is thinking of leaning more towards unique non-comical classes. Keep your opinions coming though. If you want that or something different let me know and I'll convey it to him.

For the record, I wasn't implying myself.

or ranged ones, like archers.

Fighter Wiz and Ranger is 2 cliche. I think NO classes are the best.

Yes! Shindy's right, let's abolish the classes, otherwise they'll struggle to decide what class is the strongest, eventually leading to an elitist rule where the weak are disregarded and the workers are controlled. We must unite and overthrow the goverment, workers unite, the proletarian dictatorship is close, soon the classless community is ours!

Is communist a class?

Seriously though, i like the idea of there being no set classes. If you made it so that we could choose where to put our skills each level it would be very cool and very customisable (real word?).

There a couple unconvential class-and-level systems that have worked pretty well:

That of Morrowind's, where you level up skills as you use them (how fast you advance in a skill depends on which ones are major, which ones are minor, etc.) and you increase in overall level (affecting HP, MP, etc) after leveling up a skill or skills X number of times. Attributes are linked to skills too.

And that of Knights of the Old Republic, where you choose which skills to improve or which new skills to add every time you level up.

Both of these don't require a class selection, which would be kinda cool. It's much more customized to the player, and with more options on how you want to advance, you don't feel as constrained when you play.

A note on that, I think depending on your major skills, what skills you frequent and stuff like that your'e assigned a class name. I could be wrong, but it'd be a nice twist for this game, that your class is just a nice name, and it depends on your skills. Possibly that classes get some small bonus. I.E. If you sneak a lot you become a rouge and rouges get a boost to sneaking.
