Hmm, what about a The Way: Tabletop Roleplaying System... A lot of the plunge rules can be directly converted to a dice system.
Of course the DM wouldn't know even half of the truths of the way, but still it could probably be fun to play as a Guided or a Lyn or something like that, wandering the Way.

I like the old table-top RPGs - lotta good memories of goofing around with friends playing that stuff.

But, no offense, that idea sounds like as much fun as eating a bag of arsenic-coated glass shards while scrapbooking and listening to Madonna. Painful, and just a tad gay.

I thought The Way was based on an old tabletop game that Lun had made?

I thought it was more or less based on a story he had in his head.

This is closer to the truth, I believe. Lun has had some form of the story mapped out for a while, from what I gather. Whether he actually made a table-top game, I don't know. I doubt it, though.

Come on... you saw the Wanderer's Guide Book.

It's obviously based somewhat on Dungeons and Dragons. With a Plunge stat of 30, you roll a 10d6? Either D&D or a derivative of D&D.

A whole new system would be in place, With new classes and all, Instead of baseing it on D20 or some other crappy system...

Actually, i e-mailed lun about that once.

Lun wrote:I haven't ever played D&D, but once upon a time I was the gamemaster for a

enjoyed crafting adventures and have many good memories of that group.
Beyond that I've only dabbled a little bit in other pencil and paper
roleplaying games.

Okay... that's it. I'm gonna get a few plane tickets and fly my friends out to Lun's house to play D&D.

...

Wow... I sound like such a loser. But, to the point, it's shocking that someone whose game was so successful didn't ever play Dungeons and Dragons.

dungeons and dragons isn't that great. The system is rather unbalanced and clumsy. It's main strength is content, and simply being a PnP RPG.
If you've played PnP rpgs before, you don't lose much by not playing DnD specifically.

Yes, The system is completely unbalanced, Though it was half decent at 2ndE. The original Call of Cthulu and pretty much anything by White Wolf is much better

Heh, yeah I'm getting the feeling that the D20 system has monopolized the whole Pen and Paper roleplaying world. It's getting harder and harder to find the good old system (except for the White Wolf ones that are still very much alive). So if someone made a PnP system out of 'The Way' I'd prefer a new and original system...

Of course, GURPS could work as well... the good thing about that system is that you can convert almost anything to fit in.
