I am a member of these two, and resources are not a problem...

Now, eventing... You have most of the commands in the old makers, and all of those that Enterbrain were too lazy to make, have already been fixed by scripts, ust register to one of the forums, and you have whatever you need there.

As for graphics, -- It really is better using these. 32-bit, means built-in transperacy, and smoother looking graohics. I also don't really see why they look like short people to you, because technically, they are in right proportions, and you can also make them any size you want, you are not limited in width or height...

About the battle system..... What, you want the message to display what you do? You can watch yourself, instead of annoying messages... And if you still don't want that, there are tons of scripts out there....

I have asked Lun via E-Mail to let me publish a remake of the way, but I haven't been replied yet.
I am making it anyway, for me and my friends, but I want to publish it....
I have already given full credit in the little time that I have worked on the game. ( Don't hate me.... Please... )

Well, Considering The Way is protected by copyrights- And that Lun has used a legal copy of RM2K to make it, If you publish it he can legaly sue you.

And mind you, The series is already complete, Remakeing it in RMXP is simply a waste of time.

Wrong. Very wrong. How many RMXP games have you seen that compare with The Way or a handful of other amazing RM2K games. I mean, the engine is only as good as the err... engineer.

Not to mention that although there are existing resources for RMXP. There are tons of seasoned spriters and artists who have been making RM2K graphics for years. Not to mention the huge library of tutorials and coders around who know RM2K inside-out. RM2K does have its advantages.

With all this RMXP talk I'm finding it hard. Mainly due to the huge steaming pile of crap that is RMXP.

Also http://www.rmxp.net sucks. It's like GamingWorld, but newer and with some sort of varnish coating. It's entirely on forums, main site doesn't get updated, millions of new project topics coming out and doing nothing. In fact GamingWorld is better because some games get finished on the Game and Demo (I'm ashamed to admit I check about once a month) and it already had some reasources before it stopped updating.

Okay, here we go. Why I dislike RMXP:

1) Atmosphere
Every single RMXP game I've ever played has no semblance of atmosphere what so ever. Even supposedly great games, such as Phylomortis, seem to be very static and bland. There's no life behind RMXP, at all. I've yet to see a single game that gave me any sense of what it would be like to actually be in the location the game was taking place in.

2) Graphics
Yeah yeah, "Lolz it has higher resolution it are better lol", no, just no. Yes it has a higher resolution, but I personally think that it makes it worse. RM2k/3 was supposed to make Super Nintendo style games, graphically speaking. I don't know if anyone noticed, but after the Super Nintendo, it jumped to 3D consoles such as the N64 and PSX. It's because any 2D graphics above 32bit looked like complete shit. And, RMXP is no different. Everything above that resolution looks like crap, and it seems that most people use graphics as an excuse to "upgrade", but it's not an excuse. If you want to make your game look like shit, sure, "upgrade".

3) Scripting
Yes, I'm fully aware that RMXP has Ruby scripting engine and all that jazz and it's fully customizable blah de blah de blah. Nope. Ruby scripting is one of the shittiest script formats. Ever. I could customize my game better with HTML than with Ruby. This reason is more personal, but I'm not going out of my way to learn an alternate scripting system when I could make a better game in RM2K/3 anyway.

4) RTP
Yeah, this is pretty dumb, because you don't have to use it, but the RTP is complete shit. Everything looks all shiny, which would be fine... if it were 3D. It looks absolutely horrid. The chipsets are total ripoffs of Mac n' Blue's hard worked chipsets, which also pisses me off. The charsets look really bad, they don't blend with anything other than thr RTP chipsets. The battle system is really bad. At least Rm2k's battle system was fun, RMXP has some crappy picture of the characters pasted onto it, which ruins it.

5) Fun factor
This, in my opinion, is where any hope RMXP had just died. DIED. With Rm2k/3, I could just get on the computer and work all day, and have a lot of fun doing it. But in RMXP, I can't. It lacks the fun value that making games in RM2k/3 did. When trying to make something in RMXP, it just feels like... work. I honestly don't like spending my free time feeling like I'm working, but I dunno, maybe some of you like that, or maybe it's just me, but, yeah.

If you didn't read all of that, RMXP fans, it only furthur proves my point.

You do realize that you could easily make a game in RMXP using a 3d engine to make the graphics. Like I said, an engine is only as good as the game maker. RMXP has about the same possibility for great games as RM2K, but there are different challenges to it. Oh and, if you really wanted to, you could also make the graphics 256 colour and 320x240 resolution if you REALLY want that retro look. I seriously don't mean to offend, but I think your arguments are pretty ignorant.
