GCSE's

Postby Flibbo » Thu May 25, 2006 3:05 am

So today is the first day of my GCSE exams, and instead of rivising i thought my time would be better spent making a topic about it. It makes sense...think about it...

So anyway, i'm taking English, Maths, Drama, Electronic product design, GNVQ ICT, Science and History. Wish me luck?

If you don't pass science, I'm going to seek up your huose and pick your nose while you're asleep.

My first one was on friday. Citizenship. I didn't choose to take it though.

I've had Cit - went okay, Music - A bit annoying but I'll do fine, ICT - Same as music and English Lit. - Went pretty good.

Now I got Maths, Double Science, Drama, Electronics, R.E. (Also unchosen) and French (Again, unchosen). But they're all in a week because of half-term. Good luck with yours though.

I noticed "Poems from Differant Culture" isn't part of Literature, only Language... as if because it's foreign it's not good enough to be Literature. Odd.

I just want it all to be over so I can get on with doing absolutely nothing.

I did my GCSE's last year. And I did OK for most of them and that was with little revision. I got B for Double-Science, which is surprising considering my Science teacher couldn't spell and my class copy everthing off of the board. I got C for GCSE IT, which is also surprising becuase my IT teacher suddenly vanished and the replacement knew bugger all about our coursework and so we couldn't get any help. I got B for History. I got C in Maths, B in RE, D in Graphics, D in English Language, E in English Literature (probably becuase I fell asleep for 1 and half hours during the exam, not to mention my appalling handwriting), E in Music and F in Citisenship (yay!). I'm now doing a National BTEC Diploma Course at College and have received a Distinction for the main assignment. So, yeah, you'll probably do fine.

Uh...For us westerners, are these like the SAT tests/ AP tests for just about everything? Is it to get into the university from a 'gymnasium' or whatever?

Well, I just finished my HSA's this week, and I got finals coming up in 2 weeks. I shouldn't have has to even take the HSA's. Last year 9th graders had to take them (like me) and this year they decided the tests are better taken in 10th grade. And the board of education, being the genius's they are  , decided to make us take them again.

I took the SAT's on may 6th. It's funny. I registered for the SAT at collegeboard.com using my yahoo account, which I use for stuff I anticipate will spam me, then forgot that my receipt was sent to that email. I checked AOL and hotmail and gmail, but nothing came up, so on test day I went down, realized I wasn't getting in if I didn't have the receipt, and came home. I checked the website. At the time, it might have been around a quarter past eight am. So I finally realize that I didn't check my yahoo and print that bugger out. So now its 8:30 and theres no WAY I'm going to make the test, right? At least not a complete test. Since these only come to our school every 2/3 months, I just wanted to at least try to get a score, even if it sucked. So I get there at 8:37 and run to the room I had to take the test in and they're just starting the instructions to section one! They spent almost 40 minutes going over filling out personal information on the packet! I will not criticize how long it takes to fill those sections out ever again because it saved me the trouble of explaining a $85 bill on my parents credit card, but no SAT score. I took the SAT I, which is the reasoning test, not the subject test. They bumped the score up to maybe 2100 or 2400 I think, because there's an essay section now, and some of the sections got more points I think, so I guess I'm lucky compared to this year's seniors, who for the most part, took the old SAT I's. I'm taking the SAT II's in English and Physics in October, so until then, I'm self-teaching myself AP physics. It's not that hard, surprisingly.

I remember taking my SAT's in Year 9. At my High School, all tests were taken in the Sports Hall. It was winter and everyone wanted to get into the hall becuase it was freezing outside. But some genious accidentily turned on the air conditioning and was colder inside then it was out and to make matters worse the teachers wouldn't let us wear coats during the tests and my hands were so cold I couldn't write properly.

We get differant SAT's. Their's are more important, whilst we get the crappy Levels 3, 5 and 7 (averages after each "Key Stage", basically the few non-vital school years).

I'd like to point out that Fitz has 1337 posts. And the old only-multiple-choice SATs owned.
