Attack is chosen for each player, attack is rolled. Comparing attacks then follow, followed by risk calculations, then bladearts

That's my guess, ask lun

Norton Antivirus thinks it's a worm.

Anyway, from what I can tell, this is gonna be the real thing. Cedus, if you're gonna have us type in the IP, you should have an option to display our own IP so we don't have to go spelunking.

I was just looking at the Plunge code yesterday and this is basically how it goes: (Some of this is straight from Lun's notes)

-Compare attacks - winner gets Bonus1 of 4 (40% extra damage)
-Critical Hits - %chance to get Bonus3 = crit strength
(rolled and added to attack)
-Main Plunge Evaluation:
This function evaluates the results of the Plunge
in preparation for the animation phase.
1) Tally Damage. Bonus1, 2 and 3.
2) Add special attack effects. Exclude Bonus3.
3) Set Variables up to call proper messages in Animation Phase.
If someone dies, special death scene invoked.
-Tally Plunge Damage:
-roll plunge, store in damage
-add damage multiplied by bonus1/10 to damage
-roll critStr, add to damage
After the main tally we now add in the RISK bonus to the attacks:
-if risk won, add damage multiplied by 35/100 to own damage
-if risk lost, add damage multplied by 35/100 to enemy damage
-apply Blade Arts and other effects
-Check for injuries.
-Check for death.

I've probably missed out something though. It would be typical me. Hope that's helpful though.

edit: Hey, what happened to my nice tabulation!?

Now that is strange... I dunno what all Norton Antivirus blocks (it's probably just being paranoid because it has server code in it I guess). Could you PM me what it says?

Cedus, if you're gonna have us type in the IP, you should have an option to display our own IP so we don't have to go spelunking.

Will make sure that goes in the next release (the actually playable one).

Awesome, thanks dude!

edit: Hey, what happened to my nice tabulation!?

You have to put stuff in code tags to keep it tabulated all neatly. example:

Code: Select all
 - one
 - two
   - two point five
 - three

Version 1.1

Playable version. To change your stats, you need to be handy for a hex editor (for now at least, obviously I'll make a stat changer for 1.2). In profile.dat, first byte is max HP, second byte is Plunge, third byte is damage threshold, fourth is crit strength, fifth is crit chance. The rest are unused for now.

Goals for 1.2:
- Step 1 blade arts.
- Link attacks.
- Stat changer.
- Change the "Your IP Is" report, since it only shows your internal IP if you're behind a router at the moment (which is fine for LAN partying but not for anything else).

Enjoy. Included stats are identical to beginning episode one Rhue.

Good Job. I worked on an Online Plunge about a year ago, I had a nice engine that was very expandable. But I had college to worry about it and fell away from working on it. It had many glitches and used rpg char sets and everything, but It had some bugs i couldn't figure out. But now If i was to use it, i would have to examine the code for like 3 weeks to figure out wtf is there again. I used a mysql database to house character variables and other data. So players can create a username and password. I never shown anyone it though lol.

But I hope you can gets yours going, that be sweet.

btw, what langauge you using?

C++ with SDL graphics lib (sdl_image addon for .png support amongst other things). Using straight-up Winsock for the network code.

I hadn't even heard about SDL_net until you mentioned it... Oh well, the network code is done now.

Oh jesus, C++? Shouldve mentioned that sooner. I'm pretty good with it, got any problems, drop me a message. I've worked with Borland as my compiler, so I also know the god-aweful graphics portion.

I have a suggestion, If you are going to use rm2k graphics/sprites. Maybe you can implement 2xSAI, if you know what im talking about. Because its not hard to add to the rendering of the graphics. It would make it look like an emulated SNES game lol. But I think you might need the Allegro library to use it.

Whats wrong with spelunking, I do it all the time :D

And Cedus, Nice Work!

Edit: It wont let me host, it just stops responding, I've let ZoneAlarm let it act as a server.
And we might need an IP list or something so we know what to type in to play other people... just a tought.
