Violence for the sake of violence in films is pretty bad. And by violence I mean gun fights, bare-fist-boxing and explosions. Because if the fight is a martial art or swordplay, then the violence justifies itself.

When I heard about Fight Club, that's all they said it was about. It was fighting and soap. The whole "his name is robert paulson" and kissing a hand then pouring lye on it dealie was just a minor side note.

And Fitz? Chinese kung fu films. Aaaaall violence for no spectacular reason other than ...determining whose kung fu prowess is the greatest, I guess.

Yeah, but that is cooler so it justifies itself.

Your online kung-fu is most excellent. You and I need to make a Wit-fu dojo one day.

Violence in films...hmm. These days I'm not impressed of violence in movies unless I'm made to beleive that it it very real and possible. Try watching A History of Violence and then going back to impossible martial arts that make you...fly.

A history of violence was a comic book...That's no more realistic than crouching tiger hidden dragon.

Donnie Darko is my favortie movie. I love all movies that make you think "What the fuck just happend" at the end.
And the Lord said unto John, "Come forth and receive eternal life." But John came fifth and won a toaster.

Donnie Darko is one of my best films. As is Akira and a few random other films.

That doesn't affect what the film is.
What I meant was is that the violence is brutal, like it is in real life, so it kinda gets to you.

"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat." (Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio)

Well, actually if you want to talk realism, it's far less bloody in real life than it is in movies. However, it is definitely more traumatic.

I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind again yesterday, I think it's actually a lot better the second time around, the first twenty minutes don't seem so pointless, although they're still too drawn out and slow. But it's an awesome movie.

Oh, that was a good one? That was during Jim Carrey's wave after wave of movies. He had a ton...Or maybe I'm exaggerating.

I'll have to give that one a look-see

Yeah... But Eternal Sunshine is pretty much better than all of them.

Although, The Truman Show was really good.
