The 80s is so overated.

The 80s is the most hated of the "modern" time periods. The 60s have huge amounts of hippy, free love, peace type fans. The 70s have the disco and rockers. The 90s have rap. The 80s are underrated, most people hate them.

the 80's in my opinion was the worst musical decade, almost nothing came. shame really. I can only find one famous band from that time (swedish):
Europe -
Hit song: The final countdown.

maybe some metal or rock bands were active during that decade but still almost nothing new was made.

Dude....you just pulled that out of your ass. The 80s has some of the most famous rock bands in history. True, they aren't as famous or innovative as bands like Led Zeppelin and the Stones, but they are still exceptionally famous. Guns N Roses, ACDC, Def Leppard, Van Halen, Motley Crue....to name a few.

well the poll started out asking "What decade of music do you prefer?" and I would put in my vote for 1965-1974, seeing as how a decade is simply a period of ten years. but somewhere along the way the question seemed to become one of superiority, so I might as well justify my standpoint.

so here goes: the decade starting 1965 and ending 1974 included some of - if not most - if not all of the best work of the following artists/bands:

The Beatles (and their solo works), Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Beach Boys, The Kinks, Bob Marley, The Allman Brothers, Stevie Wonder, Jefferson Airplane, Marvin Gaye, Simon and Garfunkel, The Velvet Underground, The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Otis Redding, Black Sabbath, Crosby Stills and Nash (and Young), David Bowie, The Doors, Van Morrison, The Byrds, Yes, The Monkees (just kidding), Nick Drake, Aretha Franklin, Genesis, Sly and the Family Stone, The Band, Jimmy Cliff, Love, Traffic, Joni Mitchell, King Crimson, Eric Clapton (and The Yardbirds/Cream/Blind Faith/Derek and the Dominoes), The Stooges, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple, Frank Zappa, Lynyrd Skynyrd...

I should hope my case has been made.

Excell that's actually true, *slaps himself*
Sorry for my ignorance. But then the 80's would be the decade of rock. Since what I know of there was nothing else worth listening to.
