Just a general update, Cedus is/was apparently on some sort of trip this week, so he should be back soon-- I'll bug him to work on this some more when he returns.

alundaio, if you cant even take this kind of bash or cant come up with good reasoning, you need to leave immediately, because we at cs are mean people.

Wow, haven't been around for a long while...

Cedus: Well, for the networking part, you could attempt to use a decentralized system like Sun's JXTA protocol. I tried to implement it, until I looked at my original code and promptly puked all over it (yeah, it was quite bad, especially after I spent an hour trying to decipher it, and going, "WTF was I thinking here?"). But, JXTA itself seems to be perfect for something like this, since you don't have any need for a centralized server, and still be able to detect everyone. Oh, and there's a C/C++ implementation of it for you to take a look at too. The fact that it's open source doesn't hurt either.

Oh, and to get a client's actual IP, just read it off of http://www.whatismyip.org/. I've never seen it go down, and I use it to detect my own IP in my programs anyways.

That's some high-level necromancy you're using there...

Grandad's mind gave up on boxing day, to late to get him new one for Christmas, he'll have to wait till his birthday now.

I don't understand... somebody's gotta be able to do it. I mean, I know that it is a very complicated task to undertake, but if you don't give up, you just might find yourself the most renowned person of The Crestfallen Forums (Except for the obvious, including Lun).

There's bound to be someone who can do this. That person just hasn't made their presence known yet.

I seen that everyone has brought this topic alive, so here you have it.

The Way Online Plunge Version ALPHA!
http://www.4shared.com/file/10363036/447f5cfd/wayOnlinePlunge.html

To play urself, open two instances and go to LAN/ Host on one, and Join on the other. Tell me if it works on TCP/IP, haven't tested that, but it should work.
This is to show you what I have made so far. It looks like a game in debug mode. So far you can choose an attack, and take a risk. That is all calculated correctly thus far...atleast to my knowledge it is. There is no character animation or blade arts yet. I probably spent more time on the networking menu then anything else, lol.

Tell me what you think. Should I continue with my work or should I go find somthing else to do in my spare time?

I will Post a whole new topic when I have somthing better than this piece of crap.

Things I plan on doing in upcoming versions:

*Finisher and FPs
*Animation
*More sprites
*Blade Arts
*Character Maker <---(You'll be able to put blade arts in slots, edit sprite, battle theme, and etc. plus save your character to your pc. Ability to load any saved character you want.)
*maybe a main server that players can challenge other players to plunge

Don't expect to much though. I'm only one human being.
If you have any questions ask. I'm open to ideas also. Tell me if the download link don't work.

Great, Alundaio! Like I said, don't give up! :P
