GURPS online vs D&D online

Postby HolsteinCow » Sat Jul 03, 2004 1:37 pm

This is a very serious philisophical question. For the purposes of the question, let's pretend that both came out at the same time, and had these qualities:

GURPS online was a VERY high-quality text mud along the lines of The Eternal City, but was known only by word of mouth, because SJG\Worlds apart couldn't afford advertising.

D&D online was more MMORPG then MUD, having exceptional graphics but mediocre gameplay. It was also heavily advertised by WotC\Turbine.

Each given about five years to balance out, which one do you think would have more customers?
"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat." (Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio)

D&D. It's a more popular game, so it'll attract more people.

I have no clue what the flaming hell I'm talking about.

You didn't do the v.v thing blaksun. For shame. For shame.

And as I'm not a roll-playing geek, I would have to say D&D because thats the only one I've heard of. I'm a text adventure geek. Give me a good Zork or HHGG text adventure any day.
