After you download the .exe, just rename it to .zip and then open it with winzip or whatever program you have. Thats what I did to get them to work.

Hate to be the bringer of bad news, but I can't do Ascencion.

1. I've never gotten farther than a minute into the game.

2. The script is so insanely non-linear. Essentially, you can finish the game in five minutes, but there are a zillion questionably important subquests.

3. To my knowledge (but then again, that's not much on this topic) Ascencion offers no closure at all to Inception...

4. In tie with number one, I am completely unfamiliar with the game. Divulging into this would just be too much.

Sorry. Maybe someone else can do it this time.

I'm curious. is Ascension a sequel, or a seperate game? Because if it's not a sequel, we will definitely need to make a sequel seeing as the direction of Inception presently leaves you in "blah". :?

so what do you think? is Ascension a sequel, or is it just another seperate plot line all together? Lun, if you're out there, you could answer this question better than anyone.

Cocoa, since you 'created' these games, could you possibly help me out with my confusion.

whatever, i'm going to work on act one...

Thanks for the tip Sage. Mebbe now I can take a look at some things and get some ideas cranking :D Screenshots/capture would still be a good thing if any of the graphics/sprites get revamped ^_^

I''m afraid I have some bad news. I am completely overwhelmed at the moment with course work for school and homework and just plain work in general, so it's going to be hard for me to get round to doing anything. I may be able to do one or two sprites, but I'm afraid I just don't have the time for anything at the moment. Sorry guys.

No freakin' way!

Postby Cocoa » Sun Feb 13, 2005 4:19 pm

I only made the friggin' way? You're totaly freakin' kiddin' me! Not only did I make Crestfallen, I REMADE IT. When Lun sent me "BreastTrallen Infraction" I new it was a worthless piece of garbage that would be flamed to hell on the then brutal boards of the independent RPG making community. I totaly redid the whole thing and sent it back to him foolishly expecting him to acknowledge my contributions.

One scene imparticular that sucked in the "Infarction" which I renamed "Inception" was the forest of villains forest chase. Origionaly Lun had made rabbits and other cute woodland creatures chase Percilius through an open field with rather some stupid cute little track playing in the back. I took that scene replaced the open field with a wood maze, and the cute little woodland creatures with the creeping crawling monster of bushy death.

The "South Wall" portions of Act II origionaly was a clue style who done it played on one 10x10 screen with a series of text questions and menus. I of course changed it into the truly brilliant creation it is today.

Jesus, you guys are giving me a headache.

let the record show, i acknowledged you.

but, I'm curious, why did they end like they did? I mean, a sequel was never really made (which I am negotiating with Lun ), and the ending of both Inception's were just.... blah.

what was going on there? were you planning on making a sequel, or were you trying to make it a cliff hanger ending?

So...I downloaded finale notepad so I could work on stuff here while i'm at work babysitting the comp lab...(a.k.a. getting paid to sit on ass for 4 hours) Unfortunately, it doesn't export to midi, so I'll have to do that at home....Apparently the recent finaleNP version is based off of Finale 2k5's notation engine....which actually incorporates the drawn dynamics into the playback.....I'm using Finale 2k1 at home....and though it can draw dynamics, it doesn't use them in playback as midi data....(have to tinker with the midi volume in a sequencer by hand for good dynamics) .... In short: damn but I wish I had 2k5 .... *weeps while hoping to scrounge and save so he can get an academic liscensed version*

Now that I'm done ranting, I'd like you all to know, I've got a really good Idea for the title theme, and I've sketched a good part of it out. I've gotten about a good 45s to about a minute (depending on tempo) of it done, which is just the first section/phrase, and I'll see if I can spruce it up and stuff, post it (here or elsewhere) and see what you guys think of it. It's kinda a modal feeling, and kinda melancholy, but I think it fits with the title. Oh well, I'll get opinions later today i guess. Ciao for now.

I know it's probably going to take me awhile to write the music, but I want to make sure it's fairly good stuff mmmkay. Battle music and stuff shouldn't take as long cause i usually just play it through a midi keyboard instead of writing it note by note, but the orchestral stuff takes me longer because of instrumentation/dynamics and whatnot, and it's usually more complex musically, so I have to notate it by hand and export to midi later. Anyhoo, I'll keep working on stuff. Good luck with the script dumps :D

---edit---
P.S. I think this theme will translate well into using it for the protagonist, as well as battle themes and such. It's a short, but good and usable motif that I think I can easily manipulate and transform it into different things. ^_^
