I have an idea. Has anyone ever read the book "Three" by Ted Dekker? If you havn't or don't care, don't read ahead. I'm going to tell the end.

SPOILERS FOR THREE

Anyways, in this book this guy named Kevin had a really blanked up child-hood (that really messed with his mind) and his only escape was when his best friend Samatha would come over and they would go play at night. Years later, this guy named Slater calls and tells him to confess all his sins or he'll blow up his car. He does and blows up other stuff too.. yadda yadda.. anyway, by the end of the book everyone thinks that Slater and Kevin are the same person, especially Samatha. But she doesn't anymore when she sees them both in the same room together. Then later, she finds out that she is a part of Kevin's psyche as well. So Kevin was actually himself, Slater and Samatha. The good that I would do that I do not and that which I would not but I do. Three personalitys, the good, that which I would not, and I. Samatha was the biggest supporter of Kevin being Slater because she secretly knew she was a part of him too and wanted him to confess all three of them.

Alright, now here is my idea. Maybe Rhue, Gaius, and the Phantom Slasher are all the same person? Rhue can see both the Phantom Slasher and Gaius because he created them in his own mind. In the book Kevin carried on conversations in public places with Samatha and even danced with her, she even felt real to him, but to everyone else it was just him talking to himself and dancing with himself. Maybe everytime some one else sees PS or Gaius, they are still seeing Rhue. Gaius is the good, PS is that which I would not, and Rhue is I! Just a thought. ^^

Hey, she probably sees Rhue. Maybe she hangs out with Rhue and he is nice to her then Gaius is a complete ass to her. That would really scerw with her mind. But, I told you, its just a theory.

Now shut you hole. ^_~

Maby everyones is actually Rhue and hes just in some mental hospital in the real world and this is one of his screwed up dreams.

Basicly, I don't see it happening.

I used to think from a certain point that Rhue was dreaming it, but I don't anymore. And I forgot about Gaius having history with Kloe, but you didn't have to say it so sarcasticly. Anyway, everyone thinks that PS is Rhue and the PS portrait looks like Gaius.

Almost all evidence points to Gaius being the PS, from story related to the fact it uses his face set and character set, it seems lik Lun wants us to think he is the PS, so we will be more surprised when we find out hes not. Thats my opinion.

We can broadly establish there is a sort of connection between Rhue, the PS, and Gaius. They share qualities and, in some cases, memories, though no proof can be found that they are the same person, they are similar enough that a "close" connection can be formed. Gaius is not a figment of Rhue's mind, as other characters have acknowledged his existance, some outside of Rhue's perception (Kloe and Gaius in Estrana comes to mind). The PS and Rhue seem VERY closely connection, so much so that they may be the same person. However meeting with Jopaga has introduced the concept of auras.

Auras are distributed one to a person. The only way to obtain another is to absorb it. Rhue has been shown to be able to absorb auras through either his body or sword as a medium. His "deposit" of auras can be visited only when his sword is missing. So the auras are contained in his own body, at the least. He has a desire to hold onto his sword, indicating either he has issues about it, or it wants something from him.

Now, personally I think the sword wants to eat auras. It convinces him to kill, and it slowly seems to sap away his sense of reality, feeding off his own. One could say that after long enough time with his sword, an aura of his will be completely eaten away. Jopaga stated that without an aura, a person becomes instinctual, like an animal. This also plays in with Trazuin's theory that the sword brings out what the person wants most, or their instinctual desire. If you hold onto a Shadow Sword, you'll lose your higher self and become driven to complete a quest. This may be why Rhue is so steadfastly obsessed with finding Serena, and why Traz wants to kill his father, why Kalmar wants to find his perfect blade, why Lyrra wants to hunt down Strata, etc. etc.

I should stop now, I'm fairly tired as is, but I'm open to comments and criticisms.

The Shadow Sword determination thing is an interesting point, but there's evidence that Rhue's sword could be an Illuminati, too. Lide, and Cetsa's execution come to mind.

There have been times when Rhue's thoughts have or have almost driven him to kill - Sorya, I think Cetsa (I can't remember now >_<) and Ansgar, to name a few.

God, one person says this, then everybody else is quoting it as fact for months! DREAM ESTRANA IS NOT POPULATED BY THE PEOPLE RHUE HAS KILLED!!! Are the people there dead? Yes, almost certainly they all are. Did Rhue kill some of them? Yes. All of them? NO!

I've been thinking, what if Dream Estrana doesn't exist? What if theres just the one and only, and the people there are the souls of those who died when the evil was unleashed? To back up this theory, maybe somehow Rhue and some of his auras somehow seperated during/before/after Sacrifa finished summoning. It would explain his increasing lack of humanity in 5 o.o especially if the auras that left his body were those of the good people he killed/killed by his sword.
Well either that, or he's somehow connected with the PS (I seriously doubt he is the PS, either Gaius is misguided cause Rhue happens to be at the bad places at wrong times, or he IS fooling with him) and that Estrana has somehow become a dead people collection of both Rhue and PS.
Can't wait to get back in there in 6 and maybe possibly come somewhere close to trying to figure out what it's all about.

Check again if you fill up Rhues character set with black it is the same as the Phatom Slashers character set.

For fuck's sake, get your head out of your ass and stop stating your opinion as fact. People are really getting sick of it. We don't know all the people Rhue killed, and "we" includes you (as you're so intent on disbelieving, because you're too full of yourself). Especially if he's the Phantom Slasher. It is VERY easily possible that The City is filled with people Rhue killed, and it makes more sense than whatever stupid theory you might come up with.

Rhue doesn't need to kill someone to absorb his aura (see Cade in ep4) so he could just have picked up some auras while he was wandering in Destroyed Estrana.
I still think that Illuminati and Shadow Swords are actually the same thing, maybe Illuminati is a Shadow Sword when you can control its power.
