Oh and SpaceBoy2000,
I wouldn't consider my colors that great really, so don't burn all your attempts
I just got a new hard-drive so haven't moved all my files back over yet but when I do I'll upload the original PSD files for Photoshop if you want to look at them. If you head over to polykarbon.com's tutorial section he has a very similar tutorial as to how I colored these. I "ink" alot different than he does, but only because I mess up too much doing it by hand. (I do mine in photoshop with a cheap Wacom Tablet). His tutorial you might be able to manage if you aren't lucky enough to have a tablet, and have to use a mouse.
For a really simple way you can use color dodge and burn, like
http://formula119.com/ Which works ok sometimes, but I generally don't like the way skin-tones come out doing that, It does seem to make pretty good anime hair shines though with the dodge set to highlight.
For a modern comic-book style color, like Spawn, and Savage Dragon seanellery.com has a pretty good tutorial about that, although getting his results would be very difficult with only a mouse.
The biggest mistake with color that adds so much is the subtle secondary highlight. It makes the stuff pop out alot more.
